A team of four, with choices in each group

The pick sheet divides the field into selection groups. Pick from the options shown for that tournament; the available golfers and group labels can differ between events.

NLSP lists PGA majors and other PGA tournaments separately. Choose the event your group wants to follow, then review its field and dates.

Masters, PGA Championship, U.S. Open, and The Open pools

NLSP’s PGA event catalog includes all four men’s majors: the Masters, PGA Championship, U.S. Open, and The Open. Each is a separate tournament event using the four-golfer pool format. You can start with one major or add other available tournaments to the same league.

Other supported events include THE PLAYERS Championship, the Arnold Palmer Invitational, Genesis Invitational, RBC Heritage, Memorial, and Travelers Championship. The catalog also includes the FedEx St. Jude Championship, BMW Championship, and TOUR Championship.

The league creation list shows which of these events are currently available to add. Review the tournament dates and golfer field there before inviting your group.

What finish-position points mean

The published base scoring awards 28 points for first, 25 for second, and 22 for third, then one point less for each position through 24th. A golfer in 25th or worse, or one who misses the cut, earns zero for that scoring round.

Example: one round’s base points

Finish positions of 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th earn 28 + 25 + 22 + 21 = 96 base points. Bonuses are separate.

Check the two bonus options

A below-par bonus can add points for strokes below par. Above-par scores do not generate that bonus. A finish bonus can reward Top 10 and Top 5 positions, with Top 5 earning twice the configured Top 10 amount.

Check your league’s scoring to see which options are enabled and how much they are worth.

Predict the tournament winner’s score

When the tiebreaker is enabled, predict how many strokes below par the tournament winner will finish. The closest prediction is used to break a tie. This is a prediction about the winner of this tournament, not a combined total across the four majors.

FAQ

Questions before you start

Read the full FAQ

Can we run a pool just for one PGA tournament?

Yes. Choose one available PGA tournament when creating the league. You can add other available events later if the group wants to continue.

Can I set up this contest now?

The league creation page lists the events currently available to add. Choose from that list; a format described here may not be open for setup or picks yet. Check the contest page for its schedule before inviting your group.

What does it cost to run a pool?

The first 5 member entries in each contest are free. The commissioner pays $1 for each additional member who submits picks. Members who join the league but do not submit picks are not counted. The free entries reset for each contest.
